Deuteronomy 6:5 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
Deuteronomy 6:18-19 "You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the Lord swore to give your fathers, by driving out all your enemies from before you, as the Lord has spoken."
Deuteronomy 6:24 "So the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God for our good always and for our survival as it is today."
If you read the whole chapter of 6 and 7, a clear priority is set forth and a cause and effect given. The people were to focus on doing what was good and right (following God's laws) and NOT focus on providing for themselves or procuring the good land or bringing about the promise. God would do that for them. Much more than a simple priority of righteousness over self-provision, God tells them provision will come as a result of righteousness.
So if you're seeking the 'land', stop. Seek God instead. If you seek God with all your might, there won't be any might left over to get yourself the 'land'. God will have to provide it. This is a living way of trust and submission.
