How do I live today?
Hebrews tells us: 'being content with what you have; for He Himself has said 'I will never desert you, nor will I ever leave you' so that we confidently say 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?'
For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace
Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
Do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you
Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.'
Surely, if God is powerful enough to raise Jesus from the dead, He is quite capable of working in me to make me pleasing. I can be content, gracious, sacrificing, praising, sharing, obeying, and submitting while being none of those things in and of myself. But even if I fall flat on my face today, I will still sing as the song goes:
You can have all this world, give me Jesus.
